YES, UNLESS YOU ARE CERTAIN THAT YOU WILL NOT BE PARTICIPATING IN THE OVERSEAS SEGMENT

-First Year Journeymen are not allowed to date while a part of our ministry and must sign our relationship guideline form.It is our desire to provide an opportunity for Journeymen to give a year to God free from the distraction of romantic relationships in order that they may get the most out of this year and develop a spiritual maturity that will be beneficial to future relationships. It is for this reason that we include in our definition of “dating” the idea of “emotional dating”- which basically means allowing yourself to have special feelings for another Journeymen, person back home, or someone you meet on the road. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in removal from our ministry.

-Staff Disciplers may date someone of their same status within our ministry or within your age bracket outside of our ministry though they will be expected to adhere to a healthy accountability from the rest of the staff.

Mike Holt, our founder, holds credentials with the Assemblies of God. However our ministry works multi-denominationally through our various outreaches. People from all backgrounds are welcome to apply with the understanding that you will be exposed to worship settings of all denominations and that the only credentialing courses we offer are with the Assemblies of God.

Policies

Journeymen who are removed from Missio Dei due to disciplinary reasons are not eligible for reimbursement. Journeymen who must leave the program due to circumstances beyond their control are eligible to receive reimbursement for up to 2/3 of tuition costs. The housing portion is non-refundable in either case.

An individual with tattoos, piercings and/or extreme hairstyles will not prohibit them from being accepted into Missio Dei. However, applicants must understand that our ministry serves a multitude of differing ministries and denominations and that all appearances and that all appearances and matters of conscience must not be a stumbling block to another. Individuals will not be allowed to get additional tattoos, piercings, etc. during their time here.

No, a car is not required, although it may be useful to have one to get to and from the office at our home base, as well as personal trips around Macon. If you bring a car, you will be responsible for the insurance and gas expenses. If you provide regular transportation for your fellow Journeymen they will be expected to reimburse a fair amount of gas money.

Our ministry is for high school graduates who are 18-22 years of age and older, who want to give a year of their life to missions. Individuals are accepted on a case-by-case basis. You must be 22-25 years old to apply for the Staff Discipler position.

Everybody in our ministry is given a break for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also have regular days off during office weeks though trips over an hour in length must be pre-approved by the staff. In case of emergency or a pre-approved family event the journeymen will be allowed to return home for a short time.

All Journeymen are expected to uphold a standard of excellence in every part of their life both public and private as they represent both Christ and the ministry wherever they go. Failure to uphold this standard could result in disciplinary action and correction or even early dismissal. Instances which could result in disciplinary action include (but are not limited to):

-Not having a sense or an attitude of honor towards staff and each other, i.e.  Staff must be addressed as “Pastor…” and fellow Journeymen are to be treated as brothers and sisters.

-Having a poor attitude when asked to fulfill a task by a staff member or leader in the ministry we are working with regardless of if that task fits within your comfort zone or natural abilities.

-Not demonstrating care in personal appearance and hygiene. Your appearance reflects your attitude, therefore, make every effort to look presentable every day including ministry, travel, and off days. This also includes leaving inappropriate clothing at home and not wearing anything too tight, too low, too baggy, or too revealing the entire time you are with Missio Dei.

-Inappropriate Male/ Female relationships which includes course joking, physical contact beyond a “side hug, exclusive conversations (both in person and electronic), and being alone with a member of the opposite sex in any circumstance.

-Failure to maintain designated curfew on days off. Due to the exhausting nature of our travel, curfews are put into place to ensure that each Journeymen is prepared in both mind and body for the Journey ahead of them.

-Damage or negligence of Missio Dei property including but not limited to: housing and furnishing, ministry vans and trailers, promotional material, sound and video equipment etc.
